Private preventive measures
PRIVATE PROPERTY
Private homeowners are not legally required to carry out disinsection, even if an infestation is present on their property. We know that infestations spread further into the public sewer system and to neighboring houses, so each individual should take the issue seriously, being responsible for their own property and, consequently, for society as a whole. Unfortunately, there is a widespread misconception that municipalities or local governments are responsible for dealing with pests on private property as part of the disinsection of the public sewer system.
Local communities contribute by raising public awareness, promoting coordinated cooperation among stakeholders, and, above all, by highlighting the difference between infestations on private property and in publicly accessible sewers.
PUBLIC SERVICES
The manager of the sewage network (UKO) regularly orders the execution of the DDD service for the publicly accessible sewer system, in accordance with the laws governing this area. The fact that the UKO regularly orders DDD services will not completely resolve the problem, as the issues predominantly arise from residences and other properties. The UKO is not authorized to order or conduct disinsection or deratization on third-party properties, as these operations involve work with toxic substances. Our company cannot and will not accept responsibility for any unfortunate incidents that may result from exceeding authorized limits or failing to comply with the regulations governing DDD activities.
Hotels, public institutions, commercial buildings, and restaurants—if these entities do not fulfill their obligations, they are usually the source of infestations. It is positive that all of these are required to regularly perform inspections or disinsection, which through enforcement gives us leverage to encourage their participation in the activities. It is advisable that all stakeholders carry out disinsection within the same time period.
Managers of multi-apartment buildings and condominium owners are obligated, on behalf of the residents, to organize the execution of disinsection when needed. Similarly, it is recommended that all stakeholders perform disinsection during the same period as the other parties involved.
